Ritual on the Day of Lingbao Tianzun
Lingbao Tianzun (灵宝天尊) — Heavenly Lord of the Numinous Treasure — is the second of the Three Clear Ones. He represents the phase of demarcation, when yin and yang are poured out of the primordial unity. He is the guardian of the sacred texts that teach the doctrine of the emergence of natural order, law, and duality.
The ceremony is performed on the summer solstice, when yang energy reaches its peak and begins to turn towards yin. This is a moment of cosmic balance, suitable for the recitation of texts and the ritual transmission of teachings.
On this day, incense is offered in temples, ritual recitals are performed, and the preciousness of Taoist teachings, which have been passed down from generation to generation, is celebrated.
