World Federation of Daoism Founded at Maoshan

After many years of preparation, the World Federation of Daoism (WFD) was established on Maoshan on 24 September 2023, between 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. Beijing time.

Of the currently 52 recognized Daoist communities, the so-called founding members, 31 are Chinese and 21 are from other parts of the world: 8 from Europe, 3 from America, and one from Australia.

The elections were attended by the presidents or rectors of 15 international Daoist communities, including the Slovenian one. All bodies of the World Federation of Daoism were elected by 46 delegates.  Yuan Weiqi, Rector of the Slovenian Daoist Temple of Supreme Harmony, was among the electors.

The first president of the WFD was Venerable Li Guangfu, and the vice presidents were Meng Zhiling and Hevre Louchouarn (Mexico). On this occasion, the historic Maoshan Declaration was signed.

In addition, after the elections, we signed six three-year sister-temple agreements with so-called sister temples in China. They were signed by representatives of Germany, Italy, the USA, Mexico, Switzerland, and Slovenia.

Our Slovenian sister temple became Chongdao Gong, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. The Abbot of the temple is Song Chongdao.
